Are you worried about one of your youth patients thinking they might be undergoing some difficulties?
Healthcare professionals may be a first point of contact if a youth is hurt or distressed. Consider referral if:
- A young person presents with injuries from fights or weapon wounds and hints at gang conflict.
- Mental health consultations reveal fixation on violent or extremist themes, or audio/visual material fuelling anger.
- A teen discusses feeling unsafe in their community or home, or being isolated because of their background.
- You notice signs of radical ideology during therapy e.g. drawings, writing, online viewing history that align with extremist propaganda.
In healthcare settings, the focus is on care and safety. We support follow-ups by offering counselling and positive group activities. Healthcare referrals help us engage youth who might not seek help themselves.
Concerned about a patient? Contact our healthcare liaison to discuss a referral.
