Youth offending teams and probation officers see BME youth caught in crime.
Refer those who:
- Commit offenses related to violence e.g. assault, weapons or hate crimes but show potential for rehabilitation.
- Show ideological motives e.g. graffiti or statements about extremism during proceedings.
- Are awaiting sentencing or have community sentences and need extra support to avoid reoffending or radical groups.
- Are in custody or coming out of custody and could benefit from intervention before release.
We can offer a diversionary path: intensive mentoring and community support to help them rebuild a positive identity. Studies show this approach can significantly reduce future violent arrests.
